1. Professional Installation

DeFalken Corp. strongly recommends that this product be installed by a qualified automotive technician familiar with vehicle electrical systems and security equipment.

Improper installation, incorrect wiring, or unauthorized modifications may result in product malfunction, vehicle damage, electrical failure, or personal injury.

2. Improper Use and Unauthorized Modifications

DeFalken Corp. is not responsible, to the extent permitted by applicable law, for damages or losses resulting from:

  • Incorrect or negligent installation.
  • Unauthorized modifications or alterations.
  • Improper electrical connections.
  • Misuse, abuse, or operation contrary to instructions.
  • Installation by unqualified individuals.
  • Use for purposes other than those intended.

3. Critical Safety Warning — Engine Running and Gear Selector Operation

WARNING: RISK OF UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT, SERIOUS INJURY, OR DEATH.

If the vehicle's engine is running and the DeFalken anti-theft system is activated, DO NOT attempt to shift the transmission between PARK (P), REVERSE (R), DRIVE (D), or any other gear position.

Depending on the vehicle's make, model, transmission design, and electronic safety systems, activation of the anti-theft device may affect the operation of the gear selector. Some vehicles may prevent gear selection, while others may respond differently. Attempting to change gears under these conditions could result in unexpected forward or backward vehicle movement, loss of control, property damage, serious injury, or death.

Mandatory safety precautions:

  • Never attempt to force or override a locked gear selector.
  • Never test or activate the anti-theft system while driving.
  • Never attempt to shift gears while the system is activated and the engine is running.
  • Before activating the system, ensure the vehicle is completely stopped, safely secured, and in the appropriate parking condition specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
  • If the system is activated while the engine is running, keep the service brake applied, maintain control of the vehicle, and follow the approved safe shutdown and deactivation procedures.
  • Do not resume vehicle operation until the anti-theft system is properly deactivated and normal vehicle operation has been confirmed.
  • Vehicle behavior may vary significantly between manufacturers and models. Do not assume that the transmission or gear selector will respond identically in all vehicles.

4. Vehicle Safety and Operation

The DeFalken anti-theft system must be operated strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions. The device must never be intentionally used to interfere with normal vehicle operation while the vehicle is moving.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DeFalken Corp. shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from improper installation, unauthorized modification, misuse, or failure to follow applicable safety instructions.

6. Theft Prevention Disclaimer

DeFalken products are designed to help reduce the risk of unauthorized vehicle use or theft. However, no security device can guarantee complete protection against theft or unauthorized access.

7. Customer and Installer Responsibilities

Customers and installers must review all safety warnings, confirm vehicle compatibility, and follow the approved installation and operating procedures. If any abnormal gear selector behavior, unexpected movement, or electrical malfunction occurs, discontinue use and have the vehicle and device inspected by a qualified technician.

8. Warranty and Consumer Rights

Misuse, improper installation, or unauthorized modification may affect warranty coverage where permitted by law. Nothing in this disclaimer limits statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
